Santa Maria Steak Rub
Have you ever made your own rub before? I have bought plenty of seasonings and rubs for our steaks and meats, I have a cabinet full of BBQ rubs! I love steak rubs, they add delicious flavor to your meats. Steak rubs add flavor to whatever meat you are cooking, they are easy to use, and they last a long time. This Santa Maria Rub Recipe is actually curiosity of Certified Angus Beef. So you know it’s good 😉 When I was at the Food Wine Conference in Orlando last May, they were actually there doing a delicious cooking demonstration on grilling steak and when the demonstration was done, we had the opportunity to make our our Santa Maria Steak Rub. So, I thought I would share their Santa Maria Steak Rub recipe with you all as well. I mean, we all deserve a perfectly seasoned steak!
We have used this Santa Maria rub on steak, but I would guess that it would amazing on just about any meat you can think of, pork chops, pork tenderloin, chicken, roasts – you name it!
With summer here and everyone grilling more, I wanted to share this rub recipe. The next time you take out some steaks to enjoy, be sure to use this rub!

Santa Maria Steak Rub
Ingredients
- ¼ cup kosher salt
- ¼ cup cracked black pepper
- 2 tbsp granulated honey
- 2 tsp granulated garlic
- 2 tsp granulated onion powder
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container
- When ready to use, evenly rub approx 1 tablespoon per pound, on your steaks (preferably Certified Angus Beef)
- Cover beef with plastic wrap or in a ziploc bag for at least 2 hours or overnight for more intense flavor
- Cook steaks as desired - I recommend grilling to a beautiful medium rare
- Enjoy!
