Frugal Family Fun – Baking & Sharing
The holidays are here. We have less than a week until Christmas. That means we are all running around finishing shopping, grocery shopping, doing school functions, cooking, baking, and everything else 😉
It in the middle of all the craziness, it’s very important to take a moment and slow down and remember the reason of the season. Helping others, sharing others, CARING.
I know many of us have things that they do together as a family and this is one that I feel is very special for the kids. Each year we deliver baked goods to the neighbors in our subdivision. We spent all last weekend baking all sorts goodies and getting them ready for sharing.
It’s so much fun making everything together and the kids LOVE to decorate them 🙂 We put everything in tins or on holidays plates and wrap them up nice so they are ready for delivery.
The kids are actually the ones that deliver the cookies – I think it’s important for them to learn how good it feels to make someone smile…especially around the holidays. We have been doing this for about 4 years now, and we love that our friends look forward to our delivery year after year.
The holidays are a time of giving, and I think that sometimes in the hustle and bustle of the holidays we forget about the true meaning of the holidays.
Every year on the day AFTER Christmas I head to Target and Walmart and look for holiday plates, tins, or containers that are on clearance and those are the ones that we will use on the next holiday.
