Easy Homemade Peach Pie Filling
Have you made pie filling at home before? It’s actually surprisingly easy and it tastes a lot better than anything you will get from a can. I made homemade apple pie filling last Fall and when I saw that Florida peaches were in season, I knew that I needed to make homemade peach pie filling.
You can make pie filling in under 10 minutes, once you have your peaches peeled and pitted. I will admit that my favorite part of a peach is that velvety skin, but using the peach skin in your pie filling will make the texture a bit off and add a little sourness to it, so I do recommend taking the skin off.
Fresh peaches will work perfectly in making your pie filling, but you can also use frozen peaches.
To make homemade peach filling, you only need 7 ingredients and you may have them all at home right now. Unless you need to head out to your local grocer or farmer’s market to get peaches.
You will need:
Peaches
Water
Fresh Lemon juice
Sugar
Cornstarch
Vanilla extract
Cinnamon
To make this easy peach pie filling you only need about 5 – 8 minutes of cooking time. Pretty easy, right? I told ya!
Once you pie filling is made you can use it for all sorts of delicious desserts, don’t limit yourself to just peach pie. If you do decide to make a pie, this easy recipe makes enough filling for one peach pie.
I used my peach pie filling to make these Peach Pie Cookie Bars.
You can also simply scoop your peach pie filling over your favorite ice cream, vanilla ice cream would be my suggestion, but feel free to get creative. Something with caramel in it would also be delicious.
