Ingredients You Need
This recipe keeps things beautifully simple:
- Cool whip – or your favorite whipped topping
- Graham crackers
- Strawberries
- Chocolate chips
That’s it! You’re just a few ingredients away from frozen dessert bliss.
How to Make Frozen Cool Whip Sandwiches
- Mix your filling – In a medium bowl, combine the Cool Whip and diced strawberries. Gently fold until everything is blended.
- Prep your graham crackers – Break each graham cracker sheet in half along the perforation.
- Add the filling – Spoon the strawberry Cool Whip mixture onto one graham cracker half.
- Sandwich it – Top with another graham cracker and press gently until the filling spreads slightly toward the edges.
- Smooth the edges – Use a butter knife or small spatula to even them out.
- Dip in chocolate chips – Roll or dip the sides of each sandwich into the mini chocolate chips.
- Freeze – Place the sandwiches onto a parchment-lined plate or dish and freeze for at least 4 hours.
- Optional: Wrap for grab-and-go – Once fully frozen, wrap each one individually in plastic wrap for easy single-serve treats.
They come out perfectly firm, creamy, and refreshing – like something you’d buy from an ice cream truck, but even better!
Tips for the Best Ice Cream Sandwiches
Use very cold Cool Whip.
It keeps the texture fluffy and makes spreading easier.
Dice the strawberries small.
This helps them freeze evenly and gives every bite a little burst of berry flavor.
Don’t skip the freeze time.
Four hours is the minimum. Overnight is even better if you want cleaner edges and firmer sandwiches.
Use high-quality graham crackers.
The sturdier ones hold up better in the freezer.
Serve with milk!
These sandwiches are delicious with a cold glass of Florida Milk – creamy, refreshing, and the perfect balance to the sweet graham crackers and chocolate chips.
Ways Kids Can Help
Having kids help in the kitchen is not only a bonding opportunity, but it also gives them skills that will prepare them for the future. The kids can do just about every part of this easy dessert recipe!
- Mixing the prepared strawberries and cool whip
- Spreading the Cool Whip mixture onto the graham crackers
- Rolling edges in toppings
- Taste-testing – the most important job!
It’s fun, messy (in the best way), and keeps them excited about making and eating something they helped create.
