I love cherries!  When they aren’t available at the store, I love getting them frozen.  Not only are they delicious, but they are very good for us.  I used them in my Merlot Cherry Habanero Jelly, and they make for a sweet and delicious treat just by themselves.   I still enjoy making smoothies just about every day, I have yet to find any easier and more delicious way to get all those fruits and vegetables in one sitting.

If you are looking for some smoothie inspiration, be sure to check out my eBook over on Amazon, I have over 50 smoothie recipes in there.  Today’s creation has a few ingredients that I don’t use very often, cherries and celery.  Both of which were in abundance in my refrigerator, and that’s what is beautiful about smoothies, you can make them with just about whatever you would like!  Be sure to mix in fruits and vegetables though, too many fruits = extra sugar.

You will also find various spices in my smoothies: turmeric, cinnamon, chia seeds, and protein powder.  Each one is good for us, and I am all about getting in the extra nutrients while I can.

Here’s why I add each one into my protein smoothies:

Chia seeds – These little guys are nutritional powerhouses, I add them into every smoothie I make.

Turmeric – Soooo many benefits, but one of the main ones is it helps with inflammation.

Cinnamon – Also many benefits, one of my favorites is that it helps increase your metabolism.

Protein Powder – Helps keep you full longer and makes your smoothie extra creamy.
