Strawberry Apple Green Smoothie

This is the 1st smoothie recipe I have posted that has greens in it!  I will admit, I was a bit nervous about adding “salad” to my smoothie, but I can tell you honestly that you don’t taste it at all!  But your body will thank you for it 🙂  All that added nutrition and vitamins is a wonderful thing for your body.  And the best part is, the more you eat, the more your body will crave it.  The more your body craves it, the better YOU will feel!  Sounds like a win-win to me!

Healthy Strawberry Apple Green Smoothie

In this smoothie, I used cucumber, strawberries, apple and greens.  Strawberries are really affordable right now in Florida, so they are in a lot of my smoothie right now.  Cucumbers are also an inexpensive and delicious vegetable, so I love including those as well 🙂

Here are some of the health benefits to the ingredients I selected for this smoothie recipe:

Strawberries – These red beauties are loaded with vitamins, fiber, and potassium.  As an added benefit – they are fat-free 🙂

Apples – They are extremely high in antioxidants, fiber and flavanoids. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, so why not start adding them to your smoothies?

Cucumbers – These are great for rehydration. Cucumbers are also a great source of vitamin B, so that means they are a natural pick-me-up.

Protein Powder Helps keep you full longer and makes your smoothie extra creamy.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 5 cucumber slices
  • 4-5 strawberries with greens cut off
  • ½ large apple cut in quarters
  • 1 cup greens big handful, I used Spring Mix because that's what I had
  • cup Vanilla Juice Plus+ Complete Shake Mix or scoop of your favorite protein mix
  • 4-5 ice cubes
  • 4 oz coconut water - or your choice of liquid

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in the order listed above into your blender or blending cup
  • Blend until smooth
  • Enjoy!
