Add a little extra vitamins and nutrients into your day with these Healthy Protein Avocado Berry Muffins. These berry muffins are moist, delicious, protein-packed, good for you and easy to make. While this post is sponsored by Healthy Family Project, all opinions and the recipe are my own.
Mixed Berry Avocado Muffins
Healthy and delicious are two of my favorite words. Add in the words easy recipes, it’s even better. These healthy berry muffins are made with no added sugar and simple ingredients. The one ingredient that you may not normally see in a muffin recipe is the avocado. Avocado adds in extra nutrients and doesn’t affect these naturally sweet blackberry and raspberry muffins.
Blackberries offer many health benefits, so not only do they make my berry avocado delicious, they are also giving you a vitamin boost. Blackberries are full of vitamin C, vitamin K, and manganese. Blackberries are also high in fiber.
Raspberries are also good for you. Raspberries are high in fiber and loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Avocados are an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, and vitamin B-6. Avocados also have riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, and magnesium. Avocados actually have more potassium than bananas. They loaded with heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids and have approximately 12-14 grams of fiber per avocado.
I used a protein pancake mix to make my avocado berry muffins because a little extra protein is an excellent way to help us feel fuller longer and stay fuel for whatever the day is going to through our way. These avocado berry muffins are a great way to start your day or as a midday snack.
The ingredients in my berry avocado muffins are:
Fresh blackberries
Fresh raspberries
Avocado
Banana
Water
Egg
Cinnamon
Vanilla Extract
Complete Protein Pancake Mix – I used Kodiak Cakes Protein Packed Mix
To make my berry avocado muffins you simply mix everything together and bake them for 25-30 minutes. Easy enough!
I am guessing that these muffins will be eaten up before you need to think about storing them, but just in case you make a double batch or happen to some leftover, I wanted to share storage recommendations.
Storage Recommendations
Proper storage ensures that your Healthy Protein Avocado Berry Muffins stay fresh and delicious for as long as possible.
- Room Temperature: If you plan to consume the muffins within a day or two, you can store them at room temperature in an airtight container or zip-top bag. Place a paper towel at the bottom of the container to absorb excess moisture and prevent the muffins from becoming soggy.
- Refrigeration: For longer storage, particularly in warmer climates or during hot weather, refrigeration is recommended. Place the muffins in an airtight container or wrap them individually in plastic wrap before refrigerating. They can last for up to 5-7 days when stored properly in the refrigerator.
- Freezing: These muffins are also freezer-friendly, allowing you to enjoy them later. Wrap each muffin tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, or place them in a freezer-safe container or resealable bag. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months. To thaw, simply transfer the muffins to the refrigerator overnight or reheat them in the microwave for a quick and convenient snack.
- Avoid Moisture: To prevent moisture buildup and preserve the texture of the muffins, avoid storing them in direct sunlight or near heat sources. Additionally, ensure that the container or bag is sealed tightly to prevent air exposure.

I hope you enjoy these mixed berry avocado muffins as much as we do!
The best thing about these yummy avocado berry muffins is that when you buy the ingredients at your local Publix between now and October 28th you will be supporting YOUR local Feeding America® food banks.
Simply look for Produce for Kids signage in the produce department at Publix to support the participating brands giving back to your local food banks.
Here are the brands to keep a look out for:
All you have to do is buy the products that you already love and Produce for Kids and the supporting brands will handle the rest. In my recipe I used Driscoll’s berries and Mission Avocados, so when you purchase those ingredients at Publix you will be supporting your local Feeding America Food Bank. Yes, it’s really that easy!
I also wanted to let you all know that Amanda and Charli from the Healthy Family Project will be in the kitchen cooking Healthy Halloween Snacks on October 7th. Be sure to mark your calendar and join this fun Facebook Live event.
Have you ever added avocados to your muffins? What is one of your favorite muffin recipes?
These Mixed Berry Avocado Muffins freeze great. If you are looking to make breakfast time even easier, match a batch freeze each one individually and grab one out of the freezer before you head out the door in the morning or add one to your (and the kids’) lunches. You can freeze homemade muffins for up to 3 months, but trust me, these will be long gone before that 🙂
