You all know that I am on a constant quest to eat healthy. I eat more fruits and vegetables, cook lighter, reduce eating out, and exercise on a regular basis. But some days when I am really hungry, especially in the later afternoon, I open the pantry hungry and ready to grab whatever I see. That’s why it’s important to me to have snacks readily available that are preservative free.
You have heard the term, Preservative Free, but have you wondered why it’s important? Preservatives help prolong shelf life of products, they are directly added to our food to help keep the products from being broken down by microorganisms. Preservatives help prevent mold, bacteria, and yeast that cause food spoilage. Some preservatives are okay, so if you see Ascorbic Acid, Nisin, or Taurine don’t fret. But the best why to know if you are putting “good” food in your body, is to look for Preservative Free on the package, or eat it fresh 😉
