Discover why Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is a must-visit for families! Thrilling rides, amazing animals, kid-friendly fun, and an unbeatable all-day dining deal! While my adorable nieces and brother and sister-in-law were able to explore Busch Gardens and make a million memories at no cost, all opinions and our love for Busch Gardens is our own!
This blog post is written by Hannah Shaw. My sister-in-law who’s family came down to celebrate my daughter’s high school graduation and had Busch Gardens on their wish-list!
Hello from a Michigan family of four! We have two daughters, ages 8 and 9, and this was their second visit to sunny Florida. We came down to celebrate our niece’s graduation and wanted to make the most of our trip with a fun family outing and Busch Gardens was the perfect choice.
My husband and I both visited Busch Gardens as kids and still have vivid memories of the park. Now, over 25 years later, we were excited to share that experience with our daughters. They love both animals and rides, and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay offers the best of both worlds!
First Impressions: Awe and Excitement
As we pulled into the parking lot, our girls lit up with excitement! We saw those iconic roller coasters peeking over the treetops instantly had them hooked. Even the quick trolley ride to the park entrance had them giggling with joy.
The Perfect Blend of Thrills and Wildlife
Busch Gardens quickly became one of our favorite theme parks. The layout is beautiful and well-organized, offering a perfect blend of zoo-like experiences and thrilling attractions. My daughters were amazed to see animals they’d never encountered before and loved how close they could get to them. And when it came to rides, there were plenty of family-friendly options that we all enjoyed together.
Why the All-Day Dining Deal is a Must
One thing we absolutely loved and highly recommend, is the All-Day Dining Deal. As a family of four, being able to grab a delicious meal or snack every 90 minutes was a game-changer. The convenience, value, and variety made our day so much easier (and tastier).
From fresh fruit and Caesar salads to orange chicken with fried rice, everything was hot, fresh, and flavorful. The kids especially loved the big, warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies! I’m pretty sure they inhaled one at every meal!
We had our main meal at Dragon Fire Grill, which had something for everyone: Asian-inspired dishes, burgers, fresh salads, and more. The indoor seating was a much-needed break from the Florida heat, and the variety made it easy for each of us to find something we loved. Later, we stopped at Zagora Café for a snack break…cookies, juicy fruit, and drinks while watching birds flutter around. Pure magic!
Where to Eat at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay: Delicious Dining for the Whole Family
One of the best surprises during our visit to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay was how incredible the food was! Whether you’re craving comfort food classics, fresh salads, international flavors, or sweet treats, there’s something for everyone and it’s all part of the experience.
We highly recommend taking advantage of the All-Day Dining Deal. Not only is it convenient (no hangry kids here!), but it’s also a big money-saver when you’re spending the whole day at the park.
Here are a few food highlights and dining spots we loved during our visit:
This was one of our go-to spots! With its big indoor seating area and variety of food stations, everyone in our family found something they loved. We tried the flavorful orange chicken with fried rice, crispy egg rolls, and the always-satisfying chicken tenders and fries. There were also fresh Caesar salads with juicy grilled chicken and crisp lettuce, perfect for a lighter bite. The kids devoured the warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes, and let’s just say there weren’t many leftovers!
This shady, covered café was great for a mid-day snack break. We cooled off with cold drinks, snacked on juicy watermelon slices, and watched nearby birds while relaxing. It was the perfect little recharge spot.
Though we didn’t eat here this time, it’s a favorite for many guests looking for smoky, grilled goodness like ribs, brisket, and BBQ chicken. It’s on our list for our next visit!
Snack Stops & More
Around the park, we noticed plenty of fun snack stations offering theme park favorites like nachos with cheese, funnel cakes, Dippin’ Dots, and more. There’s truly something for every craving, and the portions were generous.
Ride Highlights: Just the Right Amount of Thrill
Our girls aren’t big roller coaster fans (yet!), but they were brave enough to try Stanley Falls Flume and Congo River Rapids and loved them both. Congo River Rapids was their favorite! The Sesame Street area was perfect for younger kids, with its smaller coaster, fun play areas, and a giant bouncy pillow. Of course, we had to ride the carousel, a timeless family favorite.
We were pleasantly surprised by the short wait times, most rides had us waiting less than 10 minutes. And the fans throughout the queues were a thoughtful touch to keep everyone cool.
Up Close With Wildlife
As animal lovers, we were in awe. Busch Gardens has an impressive variety of animals, including some we’d never seen in person before—orangutans, tigers, Asian elephants, gazelles, and our favorite: cheetahs. One of the cheetahs came right up to the glass to drink from a puddle! An unforgettable moment!!
The Animal Tales show was educational and entertaining, with up-close encounters with a tortoise, an opossum, and more. But our favorite animal experience was the bird feeding area. The laughter and joy on our kids’ faces as the birds landed on their arms will be a memory we treasure forever.
Amazing Shows for All Ages
We caught four shows during our visit, and each one was outstanding:
Animal Tales: A fun and informative live animal presentation.
Rhythm of Nature: An ice show that had our dancer daughter absolutely mesmerized.
Moto Motion: High-energy stunts and impressive talent. Our oldest was amazed!
Glo Fireworks & Drone Show: What a finale! Before the show began, there were interactive games and glow-in-the-dark fun for the kids. The drone portion was jaw-dropping, with moving animal designs lighting up the night sky, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
A Shout-Out to the Staff
Throughout the day, we were impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the Busch Gardens team. From ride operators to show staff to the folks keeping the park spotless, everyone was helpful and kind. It truly added to the magic of our experience.

Why We Loved Our Busch Gardens Visit
Would we go back? Absolutely. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay offered the perfect mix of thrills, wildlife, and family-friendly fun.
