Planning a trip to Adventure Island in Tampa Bay? Discover the best water rides, insider tips, and why the All-Day Dining Deal is perfect for families. While my adorable nieces and brother and sister-in-law were able to explore Busch Gardens and make a million memories at no cost, all opinions and our love for Adventure Island is our own!
Splashing into Fun at Adventure Island Tampa Bay: Our First Family Water Park Experience
This blog post is written by Hannah Shaw. My sister-in-law who’s family came down to celebrate my daughter’s high school graduation and had Adventure Island on their wish-list!
After an exciting day at Busch Gardens, our second day of Florida fun took us to Adventure Island, Tampa Bay’s awesome water park. The sun was shining, the excitement was high, and we were ready for a day full of splashes, slides, and smiles.
This was our first time ever visiting a water park, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but from the moment we pulled into the parking lot, our daughters’ faces lit up with anticipation. The park opened not long before we arrived, so parking was a breeze and getting through the gates was quick and easy. Within minutes, we were inside and ready to explore!
Family-Friendly Water Rides and Attractions
Adventure Island is packed with attractions for all ages and thrill levels. One of the best parts? Our girls were tall enough to ride everything! That gave us the flexibility to plan the day around our favorite types of water fun. We grabbed a map to get our bearings and quickly made a splashy plan.
Our first stop was the Wahoo Remix…it is an exciting group raft ride that had us all screaming and laughing the whole way down. It was the perfect way to kick off the day and definitely one of our top highlights.
Here are some of our other favorites:
Rambling Bayou (Lazy River): We rode it multiple time! It was such a relaxing break in between the action.
Endless Surf (Wave Pool): So much fun! The waves kept the girls entertained while we enjoyed the sun.
Castaway Falls (Splash Zone): The biggest splash pad we’ve ever seen, complete with massive water buckets and interactive water features.
Riptide & Water Moccasin Slides: These were tied as our daughters’ favorites, they couldn’t stop smiling!
Aruba Tuba: My personal favorite! Fast, fun, and full of twists and turns.
Despite the park getting busier throughout the day, the lines for most rides stayed short—most of our waits were under 15 minutes. That meant we could experience more rides and make the most of our time in the park.
All-Day Dining Deal: Totally Worth It
One of the best decisions we made was taking advantage of the All-Day Dining Deal at Adventure Island. For one price, we could enjoy a meal every 90 minutes—and with growing kids and a full day of activity, it was a lifesaver!
Here’s what we enjoyed:
Lunch at Mango Joe’s Café: This spot had something for everyone. We tried the Caesar salad (so fresh and crisp!), chicken nuggets with fries (always a hit with the kids), and a pulled pork sandwich that was juicy and flavorful. And of course, we couldn’t resist the warm chocolate chip cookies!
Dinner at Captain Pete’s: The pizzas here were like personal flatbreads with a perfectly crisp crust. Delicious and satisfying after a long day of swimming and sliding.
The All-Day Dining Deal was not only super convenient, it also saved us time and money. We never had to worry about finding a place to eat or pulling out our wallets again and again—just show your wristband and go! It also gave us the opportunity to try multiple dining locations throughout the park.
Other spots available on the dining plan include:
Surfside Café – offering burgers, sandwiches, and snacks
Colossal Snacks – for quick bites and refreshing drinks
Zing Ray Zip & Snacks – perfect for a cool-down treat between rides
Tips for Visiting Adventure Island
Arrive Early: The park is most relaxing in the morning before it gets busy.
Take Advantage of the Dining Plan: The All-Day Dining Deal is absolutely worth it, especially with kids!
Stay Cool: There are plenty of shady areas, but consider renting a cabana for a bit of privacy and comfort. Some even have mini-fridges and fans!
Bring Water Shoes: The pavement can get hot, and water shoes are great for walking between attractions.
Don’t Skip the Lazy River: It’s the perfect place to regroup and relax before your next ride.
Use the Lockers: We didn’t this time, but they’re a smart way to keep your valuables safe while you’re in the water.
Why We Love Adventure Island
For our very first water park experience, Adventure Island completely exceeded our expectations. The park was clean, well-organized, and packed with family-friendly fun. We loved the variety of water rides, the laid-back atmosphere, and the excellent food options. Most importantly, we made incredible memories together that we’ll never forget.
Would we go again? Absolutely. In fact, we’re already talking about making it a new Florida tradition!
