Pineapple and Sweet Potato are great for reducing inflammation, making this Pineapple Blackberry Sweet Potato Smoothie a fabulous post-workout recovery smoothie.  This smoothie recipe is filled with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that your body will thank you for.

Doesn’t that sound like an interesting combination?  Pineapple and sweet potato are both good for inflammation and since I am still nursing my knee, I have been trying to use them both more in my smoothies.  Blackberries are high in antioxidants and Vitamin C, not to mention they taste great and make your smoothie a rich beautiful color.

I love adding cinnamon, turmeric and chia seeds to my smoothies as they are an easy way to get an extra “boost” to your smoothie without spending a ton of money or altering the flavor.  Cinnamon is commonly tied to increasing your metabolism, turmeric also helps with inflammation, and chia seeds are nutritional powerhouses.

Greens, cucumbers, and carrots are also found in most of my smoothies, as they also add nutrients and don’t mess with the overall flavor profile of the smoothie.  It is always a good rule-of-thumb to have as many veggies in your smoothie as you do fruit.  And if you are making it your breakfast or a workout recovery smoothie, I strongly recommend adding protein – either as your favorite powder or with greek yogurt.

I hope you enjoy this Pineapple Blackberry Sweet Potato Smoothie as much as I do!

You will find that the sweet potato will leave a little “grit” in your smoothie, not making it chunky or anything, but leaving a different “texture,” my friend would say a bit “chalky.” I have found that beets can do that too.  It doesn’t bother me in the least, but I just thought I would give you the heads up 😉
