Can You Save Money During Health Insurance Open Enrollment?

The 2016 Health Insurance Open Enrollment is right around the corner.  Are you ready?  Are you getting the most out of your healthcare coverage?  Are you paying too much?

What does Open Enrollment mean for you and your family?

Now is the time to make sure you are getting the most out of your health care coverage and see if you qualify for lower costs on your coverage – through a tax subsidy or cost sharing – which lowers what you will pay for services.

Individuals making less than $45,960 or $94,200 as a family of 4 may be eligible for FREE or Low-Cost health insurance.

Now more than ever, it’s important that you maintain the right health care coverage to avoid gaps in coverage or tax penalties for not having insurance.

Here are some IMPORTANT dates to keep in mind:

Open Enrollment for Health Insurance

November 1, 2015:

2016 Open Enrollment Begins

  • This is the first day you can shop and enroll in a 2016 health insurance plan
  • Also important that if you are currently getting a subsidy to help pay premium that your Marketplace account information is up to date

December 15, 2015:*

Last day to renew or choose a plan

  • Coverage to start on January 1, 2016

* December 31, 2015 if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period

January 1, 2016:

First date 2016 health insurance coverage begins

  • This is the plan effective date

January 15, 2016:

Last day to choose a plan

  • Coverage to start February 1, 2016

January 31, 2016:

2016 Open Enrollment Ends

  • This is the last day you can make changes or enroll in a new 2016 health insurance plan, without potential penalty for being uninsured. (Unless you have a life change event)
