What is the Ronald McDonald House?
And How My Family Supports Them
I am sure you have heard the name, maybe seen the donation boxes at McDonald’s, but do you really know what the Ronald McDonald House is? Do you know what the Ronald McDonald House does? Do you know who the Ronald McDonald House helps? Do you know how Ronald McDonald House helps? Did you know that there are Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles or Ronald McDonald Family Rooms around the world?
Can you imagine having a sick child that needed special care? Can you imagine not living close to where your child needed care? Could imagine leaving their side for just one second when they needed you?
I know I couldn’t, and that’s why I support the Ronald McDonald House.
The main goal of the Ronald McDonald House is to keep families close to each other and the help them get the care they need.
Through the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room programs, RMHC provides places for families with sick children to stay just steps from the hospitals where they are receiving critical medical care. RMHC has local Chapters in more than 64 countries and regions with:
- 365 Ronald McDonald Houses
- 219 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms
- 50 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles
- Grants to non-profit organizations that also focus on the needs of children
- Chapters around the world creating country-specific programs
Since 1974, RMHC has helped address these needs every day, with 431,174 volunteers and staff members, our connections with medical communities around the world, partnerships with respected companies and their generous donors. Did you know that in 2016, RMHC provided 2.4 million overnight stays to families? And in doing so gave the ability to spend more time with their sick children, to interact with their doctors, and to make important decisions about their children’s care?
And my family helps those families.

Yep, we started our very own fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House so that we could help help RMHC reach our goal of providing 12,500 more overnight stays to families of sick children this year.
Starting a fundraiser is simple, and YOU can do it too! Find something you love to do, share it, and use that to help raise funds for children and their families.
Need some ideas to get your fundraiser started?
- Run! Ask for donations on every mile ran
- Bike! Ask for donations on every mile rode
- Host a bake sale at your local school
- Do a lemonade stand
The possibilities are endless, but the most important thing is to HAVE FUN.
