Hometown Heroes Honored at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World Resort Honors Hometown Heroes

There were several incredible events this past Thanksgiving week at the Walt Disney World Resort that will just warm your heart! I wanted to take this opportunity to share them with you.  I love sharing moments like these 🙂

During this Thanksgiving week, Walt Disney World Resort and ABC’s “Good Morning America” worked together to create unforgettable experiences for two hometown hero families who went above and beyond to help others serving in the armed forces.

The first family, the Johnson Family from Roanoke, Virginia, was featured on “Good Morning America” this morning. Ron Johnson, a United States Postal worker, helped a Naval wife get care packages delivered to her husband.

A surprise reunion unfolded at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort, with the Johnson Family serving as the grand marshals in the parade and then reuniting with the Thompson family from Lemoore, California, whose husband and father serves in the U.S. Navy. Both families then dined at a special Thanksgiving feast at Disney’s Grand Floridian Beach Resort, overlooking the Magic Kingdom, with “Good Morning America” correspondent Melissa Rycroft.

A reunion unfolded with a musical surprise that involved the cast of the “Festival of the Lion King” show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, uniting the two families who had been neighbors while Air Force Lt. Colonel Jack Spencer as deployed and helped them through medical emergencies and more. The Campbell’s and the Spencer’s then spent time reconnecting during a ‘Circle of Life’-themed Thanksgiving feast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with “Good Morning America” Meteorologist Rob Marciano.
