How much do you rely on your vehicle?

How Much Do You Rely On Your Vehicle?

Could you live without your car for 3 days? I am actually up in Michigan right now and we drive here in our RV. That means once I park it, I am without my own transportation for 2 weeks! I have to totally rely on friends or family members to the store to get milk, to town to go site-seeing etc. Have you ever thought about how much you REALLY rely on your vehicle?

While I love my family and my friends I have to admit, it’s completely different being on someone else’s schedule. I have to be ready when they say, I have to go where they want to go if there are any additional stops…which can be hard when I have the kids with me too! Do they have enough room for all of us? Do they mind?

It’s amazing how much you actually rely on your OWN transportation.

Did you know that according to the US Department of Transportation, “public transportation carried more than 10.5 billion passengers in 2013″?

That is a lot of people that are carpooling and dealing without their own transportation! In fact, according to Michael Sivak of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, 9.22% of US households were without a vehicle in 2012.

  1. I didn’t have my car for over 6 months and living in a rural area it was brutal having to get to work and get my kid to her appointments and events.

  2. I don’t drive alot, but if my cars in the shop, or my husband is using it, I don’t like it one bit. I like knowing it’s there if I need it.

  3. I live in the city and don’t need a car. We are close to everything so we can walk or take a bus or cab. I save alot of money that way.
