Best Butterscotch Holiday Martini

Creamy Butterscotch Martini

The holidays are coming!  The holidays are coming! I absolutely love this time of year, there is always a reason to get together with friends and family to celebrate.  It’s the time of year to be thankful for what we have, for our friends, time with family and look forward to the year ahead.  And there is no better time of year to entertain and enjoy a cocktail or two.

I know the holidays can be stressful, but they don’t have to be.

Here are a few tips to make holiday entertaining a success:

Plan ahead…in detail

Pick your date, decide what you want to serve, who you want to invite, and make a list of things that need to be done beforehand. Take your list of what needs to be done before the party and write down things that can be done a week ahead, several days ahead, and the day before the party. This keeps tasks more manageable and keeps you from being overwhelmed the day of your event.

Pick a cocktail or two to serve

Pick one or two cocktails (one of them being this Creamy Butterscotch Martini, of course) that you would like to serve at your gathering and make sure that you have a few bottles of red and white wine on hand, and some non-alcoholic choices too. This way you don’t have to have a fully stocked bar or worry about making drinks all night. You may also want to pick at least one cocktail that can be prepared in advance for guests to serve themselves.

Set up and clean before the party

Set up a day or two before the party, this includes re-arranging furniture, adding leaves to the table, and cleaning. If you save all of these tasks for the day of the party you are likely to be stressed and may forget something important. If it’s in the budget you may want to consider having a professional come in and clean a day or two before the party and then you just have to maintain the house for a day or two. This can free up time for you to complete other tasks as well.

Prepare your dishes beforehand

Do as much of the cooking and food prep as you can before the day of the party, and remember you don’t have to prepare everything yourself. There are amazing desserts and appetizers available to purchase at your local grocery store that your guests will enjoy every bit as much as if you slaved in the kitchen over every last crumb.

Use these tips and this delicious Creamy Butterscotch Martini recipe to help make your holiday party as stress-free as possible and enjoy spending your time with your friends and loved ones.

Best Maple Butterscotch Martini

In this butterscotch martini you will have equal parts of milk (that’s what makes it creamy and extra delicious) and vodka.  There is also maple syrup and butterscotch, they give you that hint of sweetness and will have you reminiscing of the holidays after the first sip.  I do strongly recommend using real maple syrup, there is really no substitute for real maple syrup.  I did garnish my martinis with ground cinnamon, you don’t have to, but it adds that extra depth of flavor and it looks pretty 🙂

Here are some reasons why this combination makes an excellent cocktail:

  1. Rich and Creamy Texture:
    • The use of milk in the cocktail adds a rich and creamy texture, providing a smooth and indulgent mouthfeel.
  2. Versatility of Vodka:
    • Vodka is a neutral spirit that allows the other flavors to shine. In this cocktail, vodka serves as a clean and versatile base, letting the sweetness of the butterscotch schnapps and maple syrup take center stage.
  3. Sweet and Buttery Flavor:
    • Butterscotch schnapps contributes a sweet and buttery flavor, creating a dessert-like quality in the cocktail. The butterscotch notes can add depth and complexity to the overall taste.
  4. Natural Sweetness from Maple Syrup:
    • Real maple syrup adds a natural sweetness and a distinctive flavor to the cocktail. It brings a touch of warmth and complexity, complementing the other sweet components.
  5. Warmth and Depth:
    • The combination of butterscotch schnapps and maple syrup, along with the warming effect of alcohol, provides a cozy and inviting sensation. It can be particularly enjoyable during colder seasons.
  6. Cinnamon Garnish:
    • The ground cinnamon garnish enhances the overall aromatic experience of the cocktail. It adds a hint of spice that complements the sweetness and adds a layer of complexity.
  7. Balanced Sweetness:
    • The proportions of milk, vodka, butterscotch schnapps, and maple syrup are such that they create a balanced sweetness. This balance prevents the cocktail from being overly sugary and allows each flavor to contribute to the overall harmony.

Remember that individual preferences vary, so the appeal of this cocktail depends on personal taste. If you enjoy sweet, creamy, and slightly boozy beverages with a hint of warmth, this cocktail is a delightful choice.
