Smoothies are a fantastic way to start your day.  Having a smoothie is the perfect way to get the nutrients your body needs to have your day start off on the right foot!  Actually, smoothies are great anytime 🙂  And now that we have so many beautiful fruits and vegetables in season right now, it’s the perfect time to experiment with flavors!

In fact, if you are a Publix shopper, like me, you have probably noticed the Produce for Kids signage up in the produce department at your local store.   Last year’s campaign raised more than $206,000, which supplied 2,275,295 meals to families in need through Feeding America.  How amazing is that?  And YOU can help just by buying fruits and vegetables – sounds like a win-win to me!

Avocado Peach Power Smoothie

I grabbed a ripe avocado and peach while I was at Publix and decided that a new smoothie recipe was in order.  With the warmer weather, a Power Smoothie is a great way to refuel after a workout or just a delicious way to start your day.

Best Avocado Peach Power Smoothie

Here is what is in my Peach Avocado Power Smoothie and why I selected each ingredient:

Avocado – Not only does it make your smoothie amazingly creamy, it’s loaded with healthy fats, fiber and lots of important nutrients. Avocados are very high in potassium, in monounsaturated oleic acid (which is a “heart healthy” fatty acid) and are high in antioxidants.

Peach – Peaches are an excellent source of vitamin C, fiber, and potassium.

Chia seeds – I add these little guys are nutritional powerhouses into every smoothie I make

Turmeric – This is another ingredient that you will find in all my smoothies, it has so many benefits, but one of the main ones is it helps with inflammation.

Cinnamon – Not only is cinnamon yummy with peaches, it also many benefits, one of my favorites is that it helps increase your metabolism.
